Cancellation of Deportation

A professional psychological evaluation can be decisive in demonstrating exceptional hardship and strengthening your case before the immigration judge.

In a cancellation of removal case, you must demonstrate to the judge the exceptional and extremely unusual hardship that your qualified family members would suffer. The psychological evaluation documents this emotional impact with professional clinical evidence, in Spanish and with licensed therapists.

A legal remedy to remain in the US

Cancellation of removal is a remedy that allows certain immigrants in deportation proceedings to apply for permanent residence. Relief is granted by an immigration judge when the applicant meets specific criteria.

Among them: demonstrate good moral character and that his deportation would cause exceptional and extremely unusual difficulties to qualified family members.

We solve your doubts

What does the evaluation seek to demonstrate before the judge?

The psychological and emotional impact that separation or return would have on your qualified family members, supported by clinical interviews and a professional report.

Who is evaluated?

Normally to qualified family members (spouse, children or parents, citizens or residents) and, depending on the case, also to the person in process. Your lawyer and the therapist define it together.

What is the process like?

One or more clinical interviews are scheduled with a licensed, bilingual therapist. From them, a professional report is written that documents your emotional state and is given to you and your lawyer to present as evidence in your case.

Can you help me if I live outside of Texas?

Yes. We see clients by video in 44 states and territories, with the same legal validity as in person, and the report is delivered the same way. We don’t serve New York, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oregon, Louisiana, Iowa, Alaska or Hawaii yet.
