Master Level Therapist
My passion for mental health began during high school, when I closely observed the emotional and psychological challenges that many people around me faced. That experience sparked in me a desire to better understand how I could support those going through difficult times and contribute positively to their lives. Since then, I have dedicated my academic and professional training to preparing myself to accompany people and families in their process of emotional well-being.
I am currently a student at Texas Woman's University (TWU), where I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. As part of my clinical training, I continue my training in Therapy Works Counseling, where I continue to develop the skills necessary to provide ethical, effective, and culturally sensitive therapeutic care.
My professional experience has focused mainly on working with children, adolescents and their families. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with people from diverse cultural, ethnic and social contexts, including historically marginalized communities. I have also worked with young adults and continue to expand my experience to serve people at different stages of life. Throughout my career, I have used my bilingual skills in Spanish to offer more accessible and close support to those who prefer to receive services in their language.
My areas of interest include bilingual therapy, child therapy, adolescent therapy, family therapy, and adult therapy. I also work with issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, transitions and adjustments to new stages of life, crisis management, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), trauma, domestic violence, mental health crises, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, I am especially interested in supporting LGBTQ+ clients, immigrant people, indigenous communities, people of color (BIPOC), and other populations who often face barriers to accessing culturally competent mental health services.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered. I firmly believe that each individual is the expert on their own story and that therapy should be a safe space where you can explore your experiences, emotions, and goals without fear of judgment. My work is based on empathy, collaboration and respect for the uniqueness of each person. I integrate tools from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relational-Cultural Therapy (CRT) and culturally sensitive approaches that recognize the impact that identity, culture and life experiences have on mental health.
As a professional in training, I believe that continuous learning is essential to providing quality care. I stay up to date through research, participation in the professional community, and constant study of new interventions and advances in mental health. Additionally, my current training at Texas Woman's University and the clinical supervision I receive allow me to continually strengthen my knowledge and skills to provide the best possible support to my clients.
If you are considering starting therapy, I want you to know that it is completely normal to have doubts or questions. My recommendation is that you allow yourself to explore that possibility with an open mind. Many times, a simple initial conversation can help you feel more comfortable and clarify any concerns you have about the process. Taking the first step may seem difficult, but it can also become a significant opportunity to improve your emotional well-being, strengthen your relationships, and discover new ways to deal with life's challenges.
My commitment to the Hispanic community stems from my own history. As an immigrant from El Salvador, I have witnessed the difficulties many people face when seeking support for their mental health, as well as the stigma that still exists around therapy. These experiences have strengthened my desire to contribute to positive change, offering services that are culturally sensitive, linguistically accessible, and truly welcoming to our community. I am passionate about listening, accompanying and helping people recognize their strengths and discover their full potential.
