At Therapy Works, a psychological evaluation for immigration step $775, with the report ready in 7-10 business days. The price is the same for any type of case and includes the clinical interview with a licensed, bilingual therapist, psychological testing, and written report for you and your attorney. You can do it in person in Dallas–Fort Worth or online by video call.
If your attorney asked for an evaluation, here's what you're paying for, what the process is like, and what to review before choosing where to do it.
What's included in the $775 price?
The price is the same for the entire process, without charges per stage:
- Spanish Clinical Interview with a licensed therapist. There you talk about your history, your family and how the situation of your case has affected you.
- Validated psychological tests that measure symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress. They give the report measurable data, not just opinions.
- Written report in the format your lawyer needs, delivered to you and him.
- Same price for any type of review: Excuse me, VAWA, asylum, U Visa or any other.
For which cases is a psychological evaluation requested?
Immigration attorneys ask for it when the case needs to show the emotional impact of a situation. The most common:
- Excuse me (waiver I-601 / I-601A): document the extreme hardship that your citizen or resident relative would experience if you were not able to be in the country.
- VAWA documents the emotional impact of abuse by a citizen or resident spouse, parent, or child.
- San Rafael document the trauma you experienced in your country and its effects today, such as the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
- U Visa documents the emotional damage of having been a victim of certain crimes in the US.
- T Visa: documents the impact of having been a victim of human trafficking.
- Cancellation: document how it would affect your family if you had to leave the country.
We also do assessments for the N-648 form, mental competency and other humanitarian forms. It's up to your attorney to decide whether your case needs an evaluation and what kind. We do the clinical side; we don't give legal advice.
Why does price change so much from place to place?
You'll find very different prices. Before comparing, ask three questions:
- Is it done by a licensed professional? A report signed by someone without a license may not carry weight in your case.
- Does it include psychological testing and the full report? Some low prices cover only an interview or a short letter.
- Are there any extra charges? Per additional session, per translation or for delivering the report faster.
In Therapy Works the prices are fixed and depend only on how fast you need the report:
| report due | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard: 7-10 business days | $775 |
| Express: up to 5 days | $875 |
| Next day: 24 hours | $975 |
What is the process like?
- Write to us on WhatsApp or give us a call. We solve your doubts in an initial consultation.
- We schedule your interview, usually the same week.
- You do your clinical interview with validated psychological tests, in Spanish.
- You receive your report: We deliver it to you and your lawyer.
To schedule you need to have an immigration lawyer. The evaluation is for your legal case; it is not therapy. If you are looking for emotional accompaniment, get to know our individualized personal instruction.
Can I take the assessment online?
Yes. We attend in person at our dallas, Bedford, Garland and Frisco offices, and by video call in most of the country, including Washington D.C. For now we cannot serve online in Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York or Oregon.
Who does the evaluation?
Licensed and bilingual therapists, experienced in immigration cases. We have been serving the Hispanic community for more than 15 years, we have done more than 8,000 evaluations and we work with more than 200 immigration law firms.
A review documents your situation with clinical honesty. It does not guarantee the outcome of your case: that decision is made by the immigration authority.
Frequently asked questions
Does the price change according to the type of case? No. It is the same for Forgiveness, VAWA, Asylum, U Visa, T Visa or Cancellation. Only change if you need the fastest report: $875 in up to 5 days or $975 in 24 hours.
Does my health insurance cover immigration screening? No. It's a legal evaluation, not a medical treatment, so insurance doesn't cover it.
Do I need a lawyer to do the assessment? Yes. We ask that you have an immigration attorney before scheduling, because the report is prepared in the format he needs for your case.
How long does it take for the report to be ready? 7-10 business days on standard delivery. If your lawyer needs it sooner, there is delivery in up to 5 days or the next day.
Is what I say in the evaluation confidential? Yes. What you share with your therapist is protected by law (HIPAA). The report is given for such use as you and your attorney authorize.
